Material Tester

A combine harvester consists of many components, which are manufactured out of metal, plastic, rubber or also wood. Every component has to meet certain characteristics, whether mechanically, physically or chemically.

A material tester has to prove these characteristics by means of different measuring and testing devices. For that, you need good knowledge in science subjects like Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

You do not walk around in a “white” coat, but lend a hand and saw up metal sheets, pipes or welded components to take samples from that. Afterwards, sensitivity is required to prepare the samples so that the “inside” of the materials can be analysed under a microscope.

Did you know?

Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals, which is at 3,422 °C. The most known use is therefore the spiral-wound filament in a bulb.

Apart from manual skills, you should also have fun at upcoming office work. The investigation results have to be documented and passed on to our worldwide acting production plants and suppliers. Therefore, good German and English skills are required.

During your 3.5 years apprenticeship, you will be taught the practical in our laboratory. In the theoretical stages in school, you deal with subjects like Material Science and Chemistry, but also with Electrotechnical, Mathematical and Physical bases.
