Focus subject Finance/Controlling
Here, it’s all about figures: The Controlling division at CLAAS uses them to collect, interpret and generate recommendations of action for the mangement. This guarantees economically viable decisions and the efficient use of resources. The Controlling division supports and coordinates the planning, budgeting and decision-making process and is responsible for budget compliance. Due to the increasing internationality of CLAAS, more and more new, exciting fields are opening up.
The Export Financing and Credit Management Department, for example, supports almost all aspects of financing issues which support sales. Structured financing for our customers in emerging markets is one aspect of this field, as well as the management of credit risks in international business.
The International Trainee Programme in the Finance/Controlling division consists of various mandatory assignments at CLAAS: one assignment in the Accounting division, another one in Controlling and one assignment in a closely-related field such as Purchasing, Sales, Quality Management or Product Management. Furthermore, you will be deployed at our headquarters at least once, as well as in one of our subsidiaries.

Example project "Conceptual revision of the Flash Report".
Initial situation:
- The Flash Report is presented to the Executive Board at the beginning of each month and is used as a preview of the monthly report (overview of the economic situation of the CLAAS Group).
- Over the years, the report has become very extensive, sometimes confusing and time-consuming to produce.
Objective:
- Restoration of clarity as well as reduction of the required time for preparation.
Approach:
- Analysis of the current report
- Development of a new concept with specific content
- Definition of data sources
- Development of an Excel template for the report
- Design concept for a clear layout
- Development of an overview slide with the most important data
Challenge:
- Understanding the existing Flash Report in its entirety due to existing scope for interpretation.
Highlight:
- Approval and use of the developed Flash Report by the Executive Board
